Important Notice:Upcoming Business Tax System Upgrade

We are excited to announce an upgrade to our business tax system. This new platform will offer enhanced features and improved efficiency.

To ensure a smooth transition, our current system will be temporarily offline from September 24th through September 28th and will go live again on September 29th.

During this period:

Online access for applications and renewals will be unavailable.

You can still apply for new businesses or renew your existing one by visiting us at our counter. We will accept your documents and payments, and they will be entered into the new system once it is operational.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding.

City of West Hollywood - New Business Registration Application

What you need to know to get started:

1. All Businesses either located or conducting business in the City of West Hollywood must register/obtain a Business Tax Certificate from the City 
for the purpose of reporting and paying City taxes.

2. Business registrations are renewed on an annual basis and expire February 1st of each year.

3. The business start date is the first date your business started operating in the City of West Hollywood. 

4. Employee identification numbers are required for all new businesses.  Sole owner or partnerships are
required to provide Social Security number for all owners/partners.  LLC, Limited Partnership, Trust or
Corporations are required to provide a Federal Employee Identification Number (FEIN)
or State Employee Identification Number (SEIN) for the business.

5. No payment will be required until your application has been reviewed and accepted. You will receive
an email verifying the receipt of application.  Within 3 business days you will receive an email containing
the amount due and instructions on how to make payment online.

Per AB 2184, you may protect your residential address by providing a different Service of Process address in accordance with Sections 16000.1(a)(2) 
and 16100.1(a)(2) of the Business and Professions Code. To do so, please Apply in person - you may not apply online.
